The other day, I saw Babygirl, Nicole Kidman’s new movie, and my first thought was: thank God sexy movies are back. While the film has so many layers (which I won’t unpack here), what really stuck with me was how shame seemed to run alongside sex—and how often that’s the case for so many of us.
Sex was never something we talked about in my house. I had to figure it out at school—not in health class, but through friends. I know I’m not the only one who had this experience. For a lot of us, the “don’t ask, don’t tell” approach seemed like the default for parents, especially when it came to feelings, sexuality, and pleasure. Those topics triggered some deep discomfort, which so often turned into shame.
Over time, we (hopefully) try to reconnect with our bodies and rethink what indulgence and pleasure mean. Everyone’s journey is different—assuming otherwise would be ridiculous. But if we don’t take the time to explore and understand our own boundaries, how can we truly respect someone else’s?
Feeling sexy and indulging go way beyond sex. Yes, emotions are part of it, but that spark starts with you. Only after you’ve found it within yourself can someone else add to it. I’ve always loved indulgence in all its forms. The pleasure of a stolen nap. Laughing so hard with your friends, the people at the next table start staring. Wearing something bold just for you, and thinking, let them stare. Devouring a burger and fries alone on the beach—greasy fingers, salty hair, and a bikini.
When did we start judging indulgence instead of celebrating it? When did we decide it was better to pretend than to embrace what makes us feel good?
If we can raise a glass to the sexiness of a scandal or the buzz around a headline-grabbing movie, why not toast to reconnecting with ourselves? To remembering what makes us feel alive, confident, and desirable—and celebrating it.
So go ahead. Indulge.

Brooches…Because Your Grandmother Always Knew They Were A Thing.

Lately, I’ve been having way too much fun playing around with brooches. What used to feel like a “grandmother thing” is now one of my favorite ways to add a little flair to an outfit. Heaven Mayhem has some incredible modern designs that feel fresh but still a little cheeky, and I’ve also fallen hard for vintage ones. There’s something about the history tucked into those tiny works of art—like wearing a little piece of someone else’s story. Pop one on a blazer, a scarf, or even use them as buttons or cufflinks.
